La Marea Project is a community-centered travel and nonprofit organization creating meaningful connections between people, cultures, and communities in the Dominican Republic. Through immersive experiences and youth-focused initiatives, we invest in relationships, empower young people, and support community-led opportunities for growth. Together, we are working toward a future where connection creates belonging, opportunity is more accessible, and local communities have the resources to thrive on their own terms.

As a nonprofit organization, we use travel as a catalyst for connection while investing in youth, local partnerships, and opportunities that strengthen communities along the North Coast.

The most meaningful moments rarely come from sightseeing. They happen around a shared meal, a pickup baseball game, a conversation that shifts your perspective, or a day spent alongside people whose lives look different from your own.

Every La Marea Project experience starts with a conversation. Share a little about yourself and we’ll connect for a meaningful conversation. We want to understand who you are, what matters most to you, and how we can create an experience that truly resonates with your group.

Based on what we learn, we put together a first-draft experience and then refine it with you. This isn't us handing you a brochure — it's a genuine back and forth. We bring the local knowledge, the community relationships, and the experience design. You bring the knowledge of your group. Together we land on something that feels right for everyone involved.

You arrive. We handle the rest. Immersive days built around shared activities, cultural moments, community time, and the kind of unscripted in-between moments that end up meaning the most. Why La Marea
In Spanish, marea means tide. We chose the name because, like a tide, people are shaped by the places they go, the relationships they build, and the experiences that change how they see the world.
The Dominican Republic provides a powerful setting for that transformation—not because it is different, but because it reminds us how much we share. Through genuine relationships, cultural exchange, and everyday experiences, participants discover common ground, challenge assumptions, and develop a deeper understanding of both themselves and others.
That's the La Marea difference. We don't simply bring people to a place. We create the conditions for meaningful connection—through immersive experiences rooted in community, reciprocity, and shared humanity.
